Berbatov, wanting to avoid losing his licence, offers to testify that Brody admitted to him that she killed Sinclair and the hit-and-run victims. But now there are less than 48 hours before she must be charged or released - and the facial recognition was inconclusive.īrody manipulates a Grand Jury into releasing her. So McCoy has both agents who removed her from custody arrested for kidnapping, and agrees to drop the charges against them in exchange for Brody being returned. Cutter knows that she'll use this to get into witness protection and be given a new, protected identity so that she won't be prosecuted. He agrees a plea deal.īefore Brody's murder trial can begin, she is summoned as a federal witness - having previously told the FBI that some of the homebuyers she met through the mortgage scam are potential terrorists. Berbatov is caught trying to recover the stolen money for Brody, and Cutter and Rubirosa confront him with Brody's real identity. Brody is repeating a cycle of seducing men and killing them when they're no longer useful to her. Rubirosa soon works out that Brody is having an affair with her lawyer Peter Berbatov. The judge agrees to sustain a Material Witness Order until the People can prove via facial recognition software that Brody, under the name "Claire Tomlin", is wanted for helping Sinclair escape from jail years ago. The case is at risk of being dismissed because all those involved in the scam are dead. The detectives realize the other thief was Brody, his girlfriend. Robert Sinclair, one of the thieves responsible for the hit-and-run, is also dead. They use her in an undercover operation to try to catch Langdon - but then he, Fatone, and everyone else involved in the fraud are found murdered at the club. Green and Lupo trace Kim Brody, who seems to be Langdon's unwitting accomplice in the fraud. The proceeds from the scam were stolen from Fatone's club in an armed robbery the thieves committed the hit-and-run as they escaped. It turns out that he works for Mafia boss Nicky Fatone.
